How to create a crossword puzzle using Discovery
1. Open a Word document and save it.
2. Create your crossword clues and answers in the Word document. Each line should be a different answer and clue. Write the answer word first, then leave a space and write the rest of the clue. If the answer is more than one word in length, put those two words together.
Example: becareful A phrase you would tell someone before walking on a slippery floor.
3. Save your work!
4. Go to puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com. (Choose "Criss-cross" if necessary.)
· In Step 1, enter the title with your last name: “Direcciones Smith”
· Leave the default for Steps 2 and 3.
· Copy and paste your answers/clues from the Word document into Step 4.
· Click “Create my Puzzle!”
5. If you don’t like how the puzzle looks, repeat step 4 and create a new puzzle.
If you like how the puzzle looks, copy and paste it into a Word Document. Make it fit onto 1 page. Change the font to a nicer, more readable font. Print 2 copies of your puzzle.
· Complete the first one yourself to make sure there are no errors. (If you find errors, correct them and print new puzzles.)
· Hand in a 1) your completed error-free crossword and 2) a blank puzzle for a
classmate to solve.
